Members from the Centre for Armenian Information & Advice (CAIA), a non-profit organization from London, England, have issued an urgent letter to Elizabeth Truss, the Member of Parliament for South West Norfolk, regarding the actions of the Azerbaijani Government towards the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In this letter, the CAIA states concern over the country’s government taking advantage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine to complete their ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. Nagorno-Karabakh is a long-contested conflict area between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The CAIA has pointed out that the Azerbaijani Government has tried to erase everything Armenian from Nagorno-Karabakh in the past. The CAIA warns in this letter that the Azerbaijani Government will continue its ethnic cleansing if left unencumbered and that Nagorno-Karabakh is on the verge of a humanitarian disaster that will leave the Armenian community devastated.

The CAIA urges that this issue be raised with the Azerbaijani Government and that they are held to the Madrid Principles of 1997, which states that Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh have a right to live in their homeland uninfringed.
